Frequently asked questions
- Does PDF to Word keep tables and formatting?
- Yes. Our converter rebuilds tables as real Word tables (not images), preserves paragraph breaks, and keeps embedded images in place. Complex multi-column layouts may need light touch-up.
- Is the conversion free?
- You can preview and use the conversion in the browser without an account. Downloading the .docx requires a Flint Pro plan.
- Are my files private?
- Yes. Files are processed only for the conversion you trigger and are tied to your account. We don't share them with anyone and you can delete them anytime.
- What's the maximum file size?
- Flint Pro accepts PDFs up to 250 MB. For larger files, split the PDF into smaller parts first using the Split PDF tool.
- Will my fonts be preserved?
- We map common fonts to their closest equivalents in Word. If your PDF uses an obscure font, Word will substitute one when opening — most layouts still look almost identical.
- Can I convert a scanned PDF to Word?
- Right now we don't run OCR, so scanned PDFs convert to a document with images of the pages rather than editable text. OCR is on our roadmap.
- Do I need to install anything?
- No. The whole flow runs in your browser. Nothing to download, no extensions, no plugins.
