Compress PDF

Shrink PDF files without losing quality.

Large PDFs are slow to send and awkward to store. Flint's PDF compressor optimizes images and internal streams without re-saving your text, so file size drops while pages still look like the original. Try it in your browser, pick the compression level you want, and export when you're ready.

  • Drag-and-drop, processed locally in your browser
  • Choose low, medium, or high compression
  • Continue editing the compressed file with any other Flint tool
  • Versions are kept so you can roll back

How it works

Right in your browser, no install

Flint PDF runs entirely in your browser. Drop a file in, do the thing, get the file out.

  1. 1

    Upload your PDF

Drag a PDF into Flint or pick one from your device. Your file stays on your account and is never shared.

  2. 2

    Choose a compression level

Pick low, medium, or high depending on whether you care more about quality or size. You can preview the result before exporting.

  3. 3

    Review and export

Compare the compressed version to the original, then export the smaller PDF. The original version is kept so you can roll back any time.

What it's for

Built for real work

Email attachments

Get a 40 MB scan down to something you can actually attach. Most mail servers cap around 25 MB and Flint usually clears that line easily.

Web and portal uploads

Tax portals, job applications, and tender sites often enforce strict size limits. Compress before uploading instead of hunting for the right scanner setting.

Cloud storage and archiving

Shrink years of contracts, invoices, or research PDFs so they take up a fraction of the space without losing the text layer.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Flint's PDF compressor free?
You can upload, compress, and preview the result for free. Exporting the compressed PDF requires Flint Pro.
Are my files private?
Yes. Files are tied to your account and processed over an encrypted connection. We don't share them and they aren't used for training.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Flint runs entirely in your browser. There's nothing to download and no plugin to install.
Is compression destructive?
Compression itself is non-destructive in Flint. Every original is kept as a previous version, so you can roll back to the uncompressed file at any time.
Will my text stay searchable?
Yes. We optimize embedded images and PDF streams but don't re-save the text layer, so search, copy, and selection keep working.
What's the maximum file size?
Free uploads are capped at a smaller size. Pro accounts can compress PDFs up to 250 MB.
How much smaller will my PDF get?
It depends on what's inside. Scans and image-heavy PDFs often shrink by 60-80%. Text-only PDFs are already small and see more modest gains.
