Your US Letter PDF needs to go to a European client. Their printer is A4-only and your Letter pages will print mis-sized.
Resizing to A4 is the right fix. Flint handles it.
A4 dimensions
A4 is 210×297mm (8.27×11.69 inches). Letter is 8.5×11 inches. A4 is narrower but taller. Letter-to-A4 means either some content shrinks slightly (scale) or some sides get cropped (fit-and-crop). Pick before converting.
Convert with scale-to-fit
Open edit PDF, 'resize pages', target 'A4', mode 'scale to fit'. Letter content scales slightly to fit A4. Width reduces by 3%; height grows by 6%. Net effect: pages look slightly taller and narrower. No content lost.
Convert with fit-and-crop
Choose 'fit and crop' for no whitespace at the cost of cropping a tiny strip from sides. Most Letter documents have enough margin that cropping doesn't lose anything important. Some don't — preview before applying.
Multi-size documents
If your source has mixed page sizes (some Letter, some A3), 'resize all to A4' normalises. Useful when the recipient's system can't handle mixed sizes.
FAQ
Why does my A4 PDF print smaller on Letter?
Letter printers scale A4 to fit, often shrinking content. Resize to Letter before sending to avoid this.
Does A4 work in the US?
Yes, but Letter is more common. Document audience matters more than home country.
Can I keep some pages at original size?
Yes — apply resize to selected pages rather than all.
What about A4 landscape?
Same operation. Set orientation to landscape, target dimensions auto-swap.
