How to save a webpage as a PDF on iPhone

Save webpages as PDFs on iPhone using Safari, then edit, sign, or share with Flint. Useful for receipts, articles, and confirmations.

Booking confirmation, receipt, article you want for later — Safari can turn any webpage into a PDF, and most iPhone users have never noticed the option. It's hidden inside the share sheet, two taps from where you'd expect.

Once you've got the PDF, you can edit, annotate, or share it like any other.

The Safari trick most people miss

Open the page in Safari. Tap the share button (square with arrow). At the top of the share sheet, you'll see options like AirDrop, Messages, Mail — but also a small Options label under the page name. Tap it. Switch from Automatic to PDF. Back, then share to Files (or Mail, etc.).

You now have a multi-page PDF of the full webpage, not just the visible viewport.

Editing the result

Saved webpages often come out clean but with extra junk — cookie banners, ads, nav menus. Use delete PDF pages to drop pages of nothing, or edit the PDF to clean up text. For receipts you're submitting to expenses, annotate with a note explaining the charge.

When to use Print to PDF instead

Safari also has a 'Print to PDF' trick: from the share sheet, pick Print, then pinch-zoom the print preview. That generates a PDF you can share. It's a workaround from older iOS versions and still works, but the direct PDF option is cleaner.

FAQ

Why is the PDF option hidden in Options?

Apple defaults to 'Automatic' which picks the format based on what you're sharing. For webpages, automatic often shares a link, not a file. Switching to PDF forces a file export. It's not hidden maliciously — just not the default.

Does the PDF include images and styling?

Yes. Safari renders the full page with CSS, images, and fonts intact. Some interactive elements (videos, embedded maps) render as static snapshots. Login-required content saves whatever's on screen at the moment.

Can I save just one page of a long article?

The export saves the entire scrollable page. To keep only certain parts, save the full PDF then delete the pages you don't want in Flint.

Saved a webpage to PDF and need to clean it up? Edit it in Flint right in Safari.
