Box is enterprise-focused cloud storage with strong governance. Editing PDFs in Box requires their app integrations (often paid) or downloading to a local app. For everyday edits, downloading to a browser tool is the path of least resistance.
The flow
Open Box in your browser. Find the PDF. Three-dot menu → Download. Open Flint in another tab. Drag the file in. Edit text, sign, merge, or whatever you need. Download. Upload back to Box.
No Box paid plan needed for the editing step. Box's permissions still govern whether you can upload back (you need edit access on the folder).
Governance and audit
Box's strength is audit trail. Uploading a new version of a PDF creates a versioned entry in Box's history — useful for compliance workflows. Each Flint edit followed by re-upload creates a clear before/after.
If your organisation requires that PDFs are not downloaded (data loss prevention), check with IT before using this flow. Many organisations allow standard downloads; some restrict.
Sharing edited files
Once uploaded, Box's share link points to the new version automatically (or the latest version of a file with versioning). Recipients see your edited PDF.
FAQ
Does Flint integrate with Box via OAuth?
Not currently. Manual download-edit-upload works without permission grants. For frequent Box workflows, Box's paid Annotate add-on integrates editing, but it's a different product.
Can I edit a Box file shared with me?
If you have edit permission on the file or its parent folder, yes — download, edit, upload back. Viewer-only access means you can download but not upload changes.
Will Box notify others when I upload an edit?
Depends on the folder's notification settings. Collaborators usually receive notifications on file updates. Check folder settings if you want quiet edits.
Box stores enterprise PDFs, Flint edits them. Two-tab workflow, no add-on.
