Marketing sent over the rebrand deck as a PDF. You need to merge two slides into your own pitch deck — except you can't, because PDF slides aren't actually slides.
Get them into PowerPoint properly.
What a PDF-to-PowerPoint conversion does
Flint's PDF to PowerPoint treats each page of the PDF as a slide. Text becomes editable text boxes, images become editable image placeholders, vector shapes (where present) carry across as PowerPoint shapes. The result opens in PowerPoint, Keynote, or Google Slides without a fight.
What survives well
Headings, body text, bullet lists, photos, basic shapes: all preserved. Slide backgrounds: usually preserved as the slide background. Logos and embedded fonts: logos as images, fonts subject to the same substitution rules as Word (install locally for exact match).
What doesn't
Animations, transitions, embedded video, speaker notes: none of these exist in PDFs to begin with, so they don't come back. Complex SmartArt: usually rebuilt as ungrouped shapes. Hyperlinks: preserved where the PDF stored them as live links; lost if they were just styled text.
If you need animations, you'll be rebuilding them in PowerPoint. The static layout coming across cleanly saves you 90% of the work.
When to convert vs when to recreate
Convert if: you want to lift a few slides into your own deck, edit text on a colleague's old deck, or fork someone's template. Recreate if: the deck is two slides and you'd be cleaner-handed redoing it, or if the source PDF was scanned and you'd need significant OCR cleanup anyway.
FAQ
Will fonts come across?
Font names are preserved. The actual fonts need to be installed locally to render correctly — otherwise PowerPoint substitutes.
Can I convert to Keynote directly?
Convert to pptx and open in Keynote — it imports pptx natively. Same xpath for Google Slides.
What about scanned PDF decks?
OCR runs automatically, but the result is closer to text-on-images than fully editable slides. Worth setting expectations.
How many slides can I convert at once?
Whatever's in the PDF — 5 slides or 105, single upload. Bigger decks take longer.
